STRIPES AND DYEING

Mostly used for identification purposes when a standard colour code will not provide enough options. Commonly used by the Public Utilities sectors of government.

Standard colour codes only give engineers 10 colour options. Striping wire allows various other colour code combinations to make working with large numbers of conductors more efficient. We can stripe both Longitudinal (straight) or Spiral (twisted around). Our capabilities allow us to stripe up to three stripes of three different colours per wire with a 30% coverage as per the European (CE) specification.

Additionally, Sycor can dye white wire to any colour that you desire. Some cable jackets are more susceptible to dyeing than others, however. Please ask your account representative.

APPLICATIONS

• Control Panels - various wires going in many different directions.
• Metering (Hydro) - standard striped colour codes when wiring (T90/RW90).
• Applications in which a wide variety of colours are required.
• Identification in cable harnesses and/or assemblies.

GAUGES AND SIZE LIMITATIONS

We can stripe various insulations and gauges. Most commonly striped insulations include PVC, SRPVC, XLPE, PVC+NYLON (TFFN/THHN) AND XLPVC. We do not stripe Teflon or rubber in-house but can supply this type of material.

• Largest Gauge - 8 AWG, 133 Strand - Spiral Stripe
• Largest Gauge - 6 AWG, 133 Strand - Longitudinal
• Smallest Gauge - 24 AWG, 7 Strand - Spiral/Longitudinal
