TWISTING (TWINNING)Twisting is commonly used in applications that require custom colour codes without the expense of using built-to-order cables. Used quite often on jumpers and cable harnesses to simplify cable installation. The pattern repeats in certain intervals, from 1/2" to 1 1/2", varying from gauge to gauge. The most commonly used lays are left-hand lays. APPLICATION - Jumpers, leads, cable harnesses and assemblies.
- Wiring that requires a specific colour code without having to buy large runs of custom cables.
- Space constraints.
- Cables are sometimes much more expensive than a traditional twist.
- Twisting wires into pairs, triads and quads for ease of use.
